The new Chairman of the Consorzio di Tutela Prosecco DOC is elected: It is Stefano Zanette
The vote was unanimous (with the exception of the interested parties who abstained) - today there was agreement across the board for the items on the agenda regarding the appointment of the new chairman, two new deputy chairmen and the Executive Committee of the Consorzio di Tutela del Prosecco Doc. Stefano Zanette, chairman of the Vittorio Veneto Wine Cooperative, was elected chairman of the Consorzio di Tutela della Doc Prosecco, taking over from Fulvio Brunetta who had led the Consortium since it was granted its appellation (on 17 July 2009) until today.
In his first statement after his appointment Zanette said “First of all I would like to thank the chairman, Fulvio Brunetta, and the two deputy chairmen for all the work they have done, but I would also like to pay tribute to the truly great work done by the entire sector in the years before we were granted the appellation and in more recent times, too. A sector that has stuck together, even when the going was rough, when each and every one of us had to give up something for the higher cause”.
“And finally – concluded the new chairman – I would like to make a heartfelt appeal that, in the not too distant future, there will be a greater and more profitable working relationship between the Consortium I now represent and the famous protection consortia involved in the production of Prosecco: Conegliano Valdobbiadene Docg and Asolo Docg. I believe this collaboration is essential and will be of benefit to us all, especially now that Prosecco has become an Italian style icon worldwide.” Chairman Zanette has already announced he will stand down from the Board of the Consorzio di Tutela Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco superiore Docg.
